The ECB and Its Watchers
The ECB and Its Watchers XVII was held on 7 April 2016. The program is available here.
On January 1, 1999 the European Central Bank (ECB) assumed responsibility for European monetary policy, and from the start its policy actions have been critically monitored by various pan-European groups of academic experts.
With its conference series "The ECB and Its Watchers", the CFS has established a platform for a mutually beneficial dialogue between the ECB, the various monitoring groups, independent academics and market participants. The conference series was first organized by Axel A. Weber (CFS Director 1998-2002). Since 2004, it has been organized by Volker Wieland, CFS Director from 2003 to 2009 and now Managing Director of the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability (IMFS). Since 2012, the conference has been organized jointly by CFS and IMFS.
Over the years, "The ECB and Its Watchers" has evolved to an established institution for academics, central bankers and practitioners. It has met wide interest in the international financial community, and its popularity and success have triggered the setup of similar events abroad.
Please note that attendance to "The ECB and Its Watchers" is by invitation only.
