Conference on MANAGEMENT OF NON-FINANCIAL RISK

12 März 2020

Conference on MANAGEMENT OF NON-FINANCIAL RISK with a focus on Risk Culture, Conduct Risk, Risk Appetite and Incentive Systems

Non-Financial Risk can be seen as an umbrella for the various categories of Operational Risk (such as cyber risk, conduct risk, model risk) and Reputational Risk, sometimes including Strategic and Business Risk as well.

At this conference researchers and practitioners (primarily from Europe) will discuss current research on the management of non-financial risk (with a focus on risk culture, conduct risk, risk appetite and incentive systems) and best practices of non-financial risk management.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Approaches to non-financial risk management: one size fits all?
  • Role of risk culture, risk appetite and incentive systems for the management of non-financial risk
  • Non-quantifiability of probabilities and losses: implications for non-financial risk management
  • Key risk indicators as a prerequisite for non-financial risk management
  • Methods for assessing risk culture and risk appetite
  • Approaches for effectively changing risk culture
  • Triggering management actions by risk appetite statements
  • Risk appetite statements for key areas of non-financial risks (cyber risk, conduct risk etc.)
  • Financial incentives versus “social scoring”, sanctions versus rewards
  • The role of the regulator

We welcome both, academic and applied research.
